Secure Remote data backup
Is Remote Backup really more secure?
When your information is stored off site, the risk
of someone accessing your physical backups, such as
tapes, is eliminated. Tapes are especially vulnerable
since they are compact, and easily carried off the
premises without detection. Additionally, your onsite
backups are most likely unencrypted. This leaves them
open to dissident employees, hackers, or corporate
espionage.
Where will my data be stored?
IHSystem's RBS maintains state-of-the-art servers
in a subterranean, undisclosed location.
Our facilities are equipped with:
- 24 x 7 ADT Security and Patrol
- Full systems redundancy
- Backup power system (UPS)
- 24 x 7 system administration
- Climate controlled environment
What hardware and software is used to store my data?
The Backup Server system operates
on a dedicated hardware configuration, which consists
of multiple CPU's and RAID arrays. RAID arrays offer
multiple hard drive configurations, which eliminate
downtime. Our Backup Server software is an application
that operates on Microsoft's Windows 2003 operating
system. For all intents and purposes, the Server is
a "black box" that provides backup and restore functionality
to any number of remote backup clients.
The Backup Server acts like an Internet application
using to the HTTP standard that implements the world-wide-web.
The Server utilizes the TCP/IP protocol to connect
and communicate with clients on a secure and authorized
port.
How are files kept secure during the backup and
restore process?
Encryption ensures FULL security when recovering
your data. The software is encrypted using 448bit
Blowfish, DES, or Triple DES technology. Our 448bit
Blowfish encryption algorithm, established by the
U.S. Government for high-security military documents,
has never been cracked since it was founded. The
encryption key issued during the install of the client
software. You will select a private encryption key
that is known only to you. No one can access
your valuable information without this key - not even
us! If this encryption key is lost, there is no access
to your data. Please be sure to save this password
in a secure location that may be accessible outside
of your computer system.
